File of Life

File of LifeIn an emergency there’s panic, confusion, fear, a terrible sense of urgency and helplessness. Not only the person in need, but everyone around them is affected.  In this scenario, could you provide an accurate medical history, list of medications, existing conditions and allergies in fewer than 10 seconds for you or your loved one? For the overwhelming majority of people, the answer is no. That is where the File of Life becomes critical.

Muskogee County EMS sponsors the nationally recognized File of Life program.

This free program provides a “File” to store a patient’s medical information (e.g. medication list, allergy information, etc.) for use in an emergency. The file is kept in the patient’s home, attached to the door of the refrigerator by a magnet.

Also included are File of Life stickers to place on the main entry door of the home, to alert emergency personnel to the presence of the file.
