The Muskogee County EMS American Heart Association Training Center offers the below instructor courses.

Courses fill up fast! To reserve your spot in a course, please come by the Muskogee County EMS business office Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to pay the course fees, and pick up the course textbook and pre-test (preferably at least 48 hours in advance of the course date) at:

Important: Instructor candidates must complete an “Instructor Candidate Application” form (click here to download application) and obtain the required information on the application. Please mail or deliver Instructor Candidate applications to Delsie at Muskogee County EMS at the above address.

Pre-requisite: All Instructor candidates must complete the Core Instructor Course prior to taking a CPR Instructor Course. The Core Instructor Course can be completed at home at the student’s convenience. The Core Instructor Course must be purchased through Muskogee County EMS. In addition, within 90 days following completion of an instructor course, the Instructor Candidate must be monitored by a Training Center Faculty Member or Training Center Coordinator before being approved to teach additional courses.

Please note that all course length times are approximate, due to varying needs of skill practice and written testing. The American Heart Association requires textbooks with each class.

Course # 373 - Heartsaver CPR/First Aid Instructor:
This instructor certification course enables the instructor to teach ONLY “Heartsaver” and below level courses.

Pre-requisites: To enroll in this class, the participant must have recently completed the Heartsaver Adult, Infant and Child course, plus the Core Instructor Course.

Description: In the Heartsaver CPR Instructor course, the participant must demonstrate proficiency in all hands-on skills and present a micro-teaching topic.

Required American Heart Association Book:	Instructor Manual For Heartsaver First Aid; and Core Instructor Manual
Cost (includes book, card, Core Instructor Course and handouts):	$147.00

Course # 370 - BLS Instructor:
This certification course enables an instructor to teach ALL provider level courses through the American Heart Association, including the Heartsaver First Aid Course.

Pre-requisites: To enroll in this class the student must have recently completed a Healthcare Provider level CPR course and have scored at least 90% on the written test in that course (without remediation). Plus, the participant must have completed the Core Instructor Course.

Description: In the BLS Instructor Course, the participant must demonstrate proficiency in all hands-on skills and present a micro-teaching topic.

Required American Heart Association Book:	Instructor Manual For Basic Life Support and Instructor Manual for Heartsaver First Aid; and Core Instructor Manual
Cost (includes book, card, Core Instructor Course and handouts):	$197.00

Course # 206 - Heartsaver Instructor Renewal Course:
This class renews the Heartsaver Instructor status. To qualify for renewal, the instructor must have taught 4 classes in the preceding 2-year time frame and must not be expired.
